Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins, Week 5 Power Rankings

“How is this happening?”—Wes

This question—in addition to going through my mind as I watched Cliff Lee completely smother the Yankees lineup and, even more surprisingly, CC Sabathia struggle slightly against the Phillies last night—was plaguing Wes as he struggled in the elimination against Cohutta.

Eventually, despite all of Wes’ macho talk about sending his girlfriend’s ex home, Cohutta completed what Derrick called “one of the best things to happen in challenge history” and defeated Wes. Apparently, Cohutta was the only one who figured out that the key to the challenge—in which the players had to drag a rope through a short obstacle course*—was not getting your rope tangled up. As a result, Wes got worn down trying to drag his pile of rope and untie the knots, while Cohutta took a pretty decisive lead.

*I don’t mean to denigrate it; it was actually one of the better designed competitions, since it neutralized size and required a modicum of strategy/intelligence.

Cohutta even gave his very simple advice to Kimberly from the stands when it was the girls’ turn, leading to her victory as well. It was a rare good day for the Challenger team.

Wes’s question, however, also sums up what happened in the deliberation to decide who would be sent into the elimination. After the Champions won the challenge—which was also pretty well done by MTV standards—factions of the team decided to send Veronica and Kelly Anne into the elimination. This was done mainly because A) the other Champion girls have an alliance, leaving Veronica out and, B) Johanna doesn’t like Kelly Anne.

So Ibis, Susie, Johanna, Johnny, and Kenny all basically decided this, and the team seemed to go along with it, but then some crazy shit went down. Veronica, realizing she’s outnumbered, says she’ll go in, but wants to get to pick her opponent. Wes agrees because he thinks it’s fair and Evan agrees because he wants to have sex with Veronica. This causes a tie.

I like to think that MTV was completely taken aback by this, having never envisioned a scenario in which six people voting could result in a tie, and they just had TJ Lavin ad-lib a solution. His solution: bring the whole team in, and have each one of them cast a vote for two players without talking to each other.

The result was priceless. The deer-in-the-headlights look on the faces of Derrick and Syrus when they had to cast votes without hiding behind “agreements” and “alliances” was hilarious. Syrus, going first, names Ibis and Kimberly, seemingly out of thin air; either he was actively trying to undermine the Johanna-Ibis-Susie alliance or, more likely, he had never been informed of the plan, and he just named the first two people he thought of.

Either way, enough of the team latches onto this pair to avoid accountability (including that idiot Johnny, who helped come up with the original plan), and somehow Veronica gets to avoid the Ruins altogether. It was a classic moment of ineptitude, rivaled only the performance of the Yankees’ bullpen Wednesday night.

And so we rank:

Eliminated: Ibis (Champion) Wes (Champion)

I was actually starting to warm up to Wes; he was the only one who seemed to recognize the absurdity of what happened during the deliberation.

Probably Going Home Next: Veronica (Champion) Johnny (Champion)

I was wrong last week, but I think eventually Veronica’s going to go in, and who can she beat besides Casey? Johnny seems to be falling out of favor on his team, and the Challengers are out of weak guys at this point.

Very Much in Danger: Casey (Challenger) Sarah (Challenger) Johanna (Champion) Syrus (Champion)

With fewer players, it’s becoming harder to avoid the elimination challenges; I’m not confident in any of these four going into an elimination.

The Top Ten:

10. Cohutta (Challenger, NEW): A big upset over Wes warrants a place in the top ten, but he is by no means secure.

9. Susie (Champion, -1): Unlike Veronica and Johanna, the only other remaining Champion girls, Susie has already been to the Ruins once, so she likely won’t be sent again.

8. Derrick (Champion, +1): He asserted that Veronica has been doing better than Ibis in challenges so far: Is there evidence to back that up?

7. Kelly Anne (Challenger, NEW): Probably won’t get called out, since the Champion girls consider her the best player.

6. Kimberly (Challenger, NEW): Since she won in the Ruins, she’ll likely get a reprieve next week, as Sarah did this week.

5. Darrell (Champion, +2): This guy makes it into the top five based on the falls of Wes and Johnny.

4. Dunbar (Challenger, +2): I’m really anxious to see this guy in an elimination.

3. Brad (Challenger, +2): I predict he sends home Johnny next week.

2. Kenny (Champion, —): There seemed to be some respect brewing between he and Wes by the end of the episode…weird.

1. Evan (Champion, —): He was really proud of being Canadian in this episode, eh? I wonder if he’s excited for the new season of Degrassi. ‘BOUT TO GET REAL!

The Ruins

Pluses: this is the first season where it is a girl who gets sent home for fighting (Veronica taunts Tonya until she gets violent), the elimination challenge no longer involves picking from a set number of challenges (last season we had the same elimination over and over again), lots of drama (there’s a sort of Evelyn, Kelly Ann, Wes, Johanna, Cohutta mesh of issues, not to mention the whole Wes vs Evan and crew), the elimination nominations are a little bit more sensible (the buddy system last season was annoying), Veronica manages to sneak out of the Ruins

Minuses: the teams are so unbalanced it’s kind of ridiculous (Challengers have lost virtually everything), Evelyn got “sent” home early because the champions are made of jerks, Susie is a hot head (if someone could set up a challenge between Evelyn and Susie or Ruthie and Susie I would be thrilled), Wes is kind of an idiot (sure, Evan and crew are jerks but if you threaten them before they do anything wrong, of course they’re going to hate you), it’s such a popularity contest, it irritates me that the elimination nominations are not done strategically most of the time, the challenges are almost always men oriented to the point where the women are always looked at as burdens

Despite all of it’s problems, I enjoy it. I kind of want to do it myself…

When rap exploded creatively and commercially in the late 1980s, Ice Cube was at the forefront of the expansion. As the lyrical brains behind N.W.A, the Los Angeles-based rapper instantly became a major player in the music game by leading a musical revolution with brutal, profane, politically-infused music that, for the first time in the genres history, sold millions of albums with N.W.As Straight Outta Compton. As a solo artist, Ice Cube became raps premier act with the release of the searing masterpieces AmeriKKKas Most Wanted and Death Certificate.

Now, after becoming Hollywoods most bankable actor thanks to his Barbershop and Friday franchises, Ice Cube returns to his first artistic love, rapping. Laugh Now, Cry Later, the multi-platinum, award-winning music icons first solo album in six years, simmers with celebration, as well as the rage, reflection and introspection that are the hallmarks of timeless music. I feel Laugh Now, Cry Later is the state of the world, of America, of urban America, of hip-hop, Ice Cube explains of his seventh solo album. It seems like everybody is playing and nobody’s worried about anything.

On the explosive Scott Storch (50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Beyonce) produced Why We Thugs, Ice Cube blasts an oppressive system that cripples Americas ghettos and fosters the perpetual ruin of such areas as South Central, Compton and Long Beach, Los Angeles metropolitan areas that have been war zones for decades.

Now, with the impending release of Laugh Now, Cry Later, his first solo album released on his own Lench Mob Records, Ice Cube is on top of his creative game and relishing in his ability to make his latest album at his own pace and on his own terms.

I’m putting my money where my mouth is because theres nothing a major label can do for me that I cant do for myself, he says. Not being signed to a particular label, putting it out myself, not having to worry about what a company or anyone else has to think about the record, being able to just go in and do it how I feel it with no timelines or deadlines, it made me comfortable. I was able to recommitment myself to rhyming and rapping. That all molded the way that this record sounds, which is important because I want my records to last the rest of the year when they come out.

Truth be told, Laugh Now, Cry Later will last well into the next decade.

Veja o trailer abaixo:

Just because you like Jackass, it doesn't mean Alternative Media is your calling

So you want to make your mark and launch a career planning killer Guerrilla Marketing campaigns that are going to get your clients noticed, get people talking and make their product and/or service the next biggest thing since sliced bread, right? After all, you’ve seen Jackass (the T.V. show AND the Movie) and what could be easier or more fun than doing outrageous stuff and getting paid for it right?

You would be wrong.  While these freedoms and flexibilities of Guerrilla Marketing are attractive, it is important to remember that this unorthodox approach to marketing can have some serious consequences.

Take for example a campaign that recently hit headlines.  A campaign for Turner Broadcasting’s “Aqua Team Hunger Force” on it’s Adult Swim program mistakenly landed people in jail and on the hot seat when it was mistaken for a terrorist plot. The agency in charge of the campaign placed the Adult Swim character that looked like a bomb on light poles, signs, tunnels and street signs all over the greater Boston area.  The only problem, nobody ever alerted the city authorities that they were going to do such a thing.

The net result? A huge fine paid by the marketing agency and ALSO by Turner Broadcasting. Not exactly what one would call “looking out for your client’s best interests”.

The take home story here is that Guerrilla Marketing can be fun and it can be outrageous.  Much like any traditional campaign though, it must be planned out and well executed to avoid disaster. Speaking from experience, the last thing you want to get in the mail is a notice from the County Sheriff requesting your presence in their courtroom.

Avoid the arrest warrants, plan your campagins well, taking into account EVERY possible shortfall, and Make Your Mark!

Health Bill Would Make It Harder to Deduct Medical Expenses, but That Won’t Affect Middle Class, Democrat Claims
(CNSNews.com) – A Democratic member of the Senate Finance Committee claims that a provision of the Senate health-reform bill will not make it more difficult for middle-class Americans to deduct medical expenses on their tax returns. But Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) says that is because “most Americans” don’t itemize their income tax deductions.

Pro-Life Democrats May Block Health Bill If Pelosi Won’t Allow Vote on Abortion Funding Ban
(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), co-chairman of the House Pro-Life Caucus, told CNSNews.com that Democrats who oppose government funding of abortion will try to block the health care reform bill from coming to a vote on the House floor unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi allows a floor vote on an amendment that would explicitly prohibit abortion funding. “There are many of us Democrats in the House who are philosophically, legally, and morally opposed to public funding for abortions,” Stupak told CNSNews.com in a statement.

Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and the Senate Finance Committee includes a provision that would raise the threshold for deducting costly medical expenses from income tax returns–meaning that people who do not meet the threshold could see their taxes rise. The exemption, used by cancer patients and those with other costly, chronic diseases, allows people to deduct a variety of medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.

Sounding more like a homosexual activist than a sitting president, Obama went well beyond his expected message of “I’m here with you” on the homosexual agenda. Even Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese was stunned at the breadth of Obama’s statement, calling it “something quite remarkable.”

Outro assunto

Ficamos assim. Amanhã tem mais. Tchau!

Corporate Radio Gasps for Air as Record Labels Come for Blood

Corporate radio and mainstream record labels have long enjoyed a seemingly symbiotic relationship that serves their mutual interests in the music industry–making money. Labels provide stations nationwide with the records of up-and-coming artists, and radio stations turn those artists, like Britney Spears and John Mayer, into mega-stars–or so they say. With the demise of payola in the 1960s, a record label’s only real option to get music heard was to send shipments of records to stations–free of charge–and hope they got the word out. This arrangement bred some conflict between big radio and big labels, but since radio was the dominant medium with substantial promotional value, labels just “cut their losses” on the free samples, and the thought of pay-to-play went by the wayside.

Until now.

Instead of payola, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is telling big radio to “pay up”–and things are getting ugly. The power-struggle is coming to a head as a bill called the “Performance Rights Act” makes its way through Congress. Originally introduced in 2007, the Performance Rights Act stalled. But today, it’s back with a vengeance, and seeks to close a “loophole” in the Copyright Act of 1976 that exempts radio from paying “performers” of songs for airtime-play. Corporate radio already pays royalties to the songwriter and the copyright holder (typically the label).

The push to close the loophole comes with the cry that the performers of songs aren’t getting their fair share for their work or their contribution to radio’s success, and thus they have recruited big-bad players like the RIAA to force radio to pay them. The argument goes something like this: performers claim the 16 billion in profits corporate radio claims annually is the direct result of the talent and music provided by performers that draw listener ears to the radio. (Under most bigger contracts, performers usually miss out on the copyright holder and songwriter dough already forked over.) Without the performer, they say, it’s just dead air-time. Radio counterclaims: exposure to 230 million pairs of ears every week is what makes artists what they are. That exposure leads to nearly 2 billion in annual profits in album, ticket, and merchandise sales. Performers owe their careers to radio.

So who is right?

It’s worth mentioning that other entertainment mediums–cable, Internet sites, YouTube, and satellite radio–already pay performers for playing their music. Even corporate radio stations that “stream” music onto their websites have to pay up. In addition, the United States is one of only five countries that refuses to pay performers for radio-play, joining Rwanda, Iran, North Korea, and China. Not exactly cozy company. That also means that when American hits are played abroad, the performer gets nothing–why should they pay us if we won’t pay them?

The sad reality seems to be that performers may once again be dwarfed by corporate giants struggling for power–even if the likes of Billy Corgan and Sheryl Crow have been to Capitol Hill on their behalf. Conveniently, pro-royalty advocates gloss over the fact that the new royalty imposed on radio stations would actually be split between the artist, or artists, and the label itself. With a rapid decline in record sales (when was the last time you bought a CD?) due to technological advances, labels might really be seeking to line their pockets with corporate radio money. No wonder they’re fighting so hard–makes you wonder what “loophole” the Act really closes.

So what does this mean for radio?

Predictably, the National Association of Broadcasters has struck back at the RIAA, introducing its own resolution currently gaining support in Congress: The Local Radio Freedom Act. The Act, of course, does away with performance royalties that would take big bucks from radio. But so what? Radio arguably has been in a steady decline as the dominant music medium since people figured out how to download songs. MTV, file-sharing, MySpace, YouTube, satellite radio, and iTunes are slowly choking corporate radio stations, sucking savvy listeners to more user-driven outlets. This could be just another bucket of water on an already dwindling fire.

The Performance Rights Act also begs a bigger question about whether laws are adequately dealing with new technology that provides exposure to artists at a pace clearly more rapid than legislative action. The royalties system is arguably a mess, largely unenforceable in new media, and unregulated in many instances. (Even yours truly mysteriously gets an iTunes “royalty” check every week for records released eight years ago that somehow appear on the site. Don’t look a gift horse?) The fight is starting to look more like dwindling giants slugging it out for the last of what they have left than a serious legislative effort to pay the creative minds behind those great, free tunes you hear on the radio–if you ever actually tune in.

Biólogo Richard Rasmussen prepara novo programa no SBT

Flatline...

Is what I thought happened to my blogging career before it even began.  After a labor day trip with most of ATI’s posters and some of our other friends I had a banter overload and didn’t know if I could do it any more.  Luckily for you, after some self exploration I realized i couldn’t rob the world of my logical insight into the ignance that people partake in on a daily basis.  So, here’s my take on some things that I wanted to comment on but was too lazy to ever finish a post about:

NFL Receivers: Thank effing goodness, Michael Crabtree finally signed. As a 49er fan(we’re playoff bound, like it or not)the only thing that could make me happier would have been him siging BEFORE WEEK 5.  Hey Mike, I don’t know if your agent or any of your awesome advisers told you this, but you didn’t get any more money. Holding out was definitely the right decision, idiot. Just help us win some games and earn that scrill you don’t deserve yet.  Ironically on the same day, Braylon Edwards got traded to the Jets. I say ironically because I’m 9er fan and Crabtree signed and at this point I also live in Cleveland.  Sorry to tell you Cleveland, but you are NOT better without Braylon. Yes Mohamed Massaquoi had a good game against the Bengals, but lets see how he does when HE’S the one getting double covered.  09 Browns you are the worst team since the 08 Lions, hell you may be worse than them.

Barack Obama won a Nobel Prize.  I’m not gonna lie, I don’t pay attention to politics or to the news so I didn’t know this happened until someone put it on their facebook status.  However, he put it on his facebook status because he wanted to bash Barack.  Newsflash, WE ARE ONE COUNTRY. There’s no need to hate on the president, get behind him.  And facebook statusses, thats a whole nother post…

Matt Holiday: You singledhandedly(well almost)put your team down 0-2 in the MLB playoffs. Your a pro, catch the ball. That picture is hilarious Props to deadspin.com

Reggie Bush: I almost have no words for you, but I’ll say this.  YOU ARE REGGIE BUSH, and although your NFL career isn’t going as planned your still a good looking guy(ndnhnhnd)and have bouku bucks. There’s no reason for you to be going back to a chick with a sex tape out.  Go to Vegas, Miami, LA, NYC, another country, wherever you want and just find another chick as sexy as her sans the porno. She’s bad, but is she worth it? Eh maybe

Lamar Odom: And speaking of Kardashians, Lamar….damn man, just damn. I don’t know if you realized this or not, but you didnt marry the girl above, you married this one:

Damn son, you could of at least got with the other sister. Come on bruh, your a pro athlete, there aint no reason for you to be dating the gorgonite of the Kardashian family. I don’t even want to get into the fact that  that you were dating for a month, A MONTH DAWG. I mean after a month I’m just starting to feel comfortable with a girl, and your getting married? If thats not ig’nant, I don’t know what is

Rush Limbaugh: The man who got fired from ESPN for making racist comments towards Donovan McNabb and has all but come out and say he hates black people, may be trying to buy the St. Louis Rams.Yo Rush, FYI like 90% of the NFL is black. That could cause some problems

Patriots: Generic patriots winning games they shouldn’t. Whether its Leodis McKelvin fumbling or the refs calling bad roughing the passer penalties they just keep “finding” a way to win.

Jay Z and Kid Cudi: Blueprint 3 and Man on the Moon are fiyah. Nuff said

Forgetting Sarah Marshall: I watched this movie again the other day, and Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis are baddddd(find pics of Mila yourself, im too lazy).Kristin may be working with “two bee stings” but her stomach game is serious.  But that’s not why I’m mentioning them, its because 1 the movie is hilarious and if you haven’t seen it you need too. And 2 its a life lesson, I love how the girl gets served because she deserves it. Women, and men, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Stop taking what you have for granted and enjoy it.

College Football: Everyone’s favorite to win the national championship has two losses, I guess pre season polls don’t really mean anything. Oh, and I guess Tim Tebow isn’t god

The hit was bad enough, but the way his head snapped off homeboys knee was just vicious. He shouldn’t play today, but he probably will

MTV’s Top 10 MCs: Recently MTV put out their top 10 hottest MCs list. Wow. Gucci at 6? No Eminem. Kanye or Wayne not number one? This list lost all credibilty almost as soon as it started by putting 50 cent at number 9. He was hot in 03.

Well there’s my rant, I’ll be back regularly now that I’ve got my mind right

A Volkswagen vai patrocinar.

Outra encrenca

A cantora Stefany

É a dúvida

O apresentador Tom Cavalcante

E José Mayer, pra variar, no meio delas.

O autor Benedito Ruy Barbosa

Ficamos assim. Mas amanhã tem mais. Tchau!

South Park returns with "Dead Celebrities"

Matt and Trey are my heroes and after watching tonight’s mid-season premiere of “South Park” I’m ready to get a shirt made that says just that. The premiere episode entitled, “Dead Celebrities” focuses on Kyle’s little Canadian brother Ike, who is being haunted by the ghost of television infomercial demigod, Billy Mays and a slew of others. Now that seems like an entire world of possibilities but that was only the tip of the iceberg. This episode was entirely devoted to showcasing EVERY celebrity that died this summer, and because they create the episodes so quickly no one is exempt, not even “Point Break’s” own freshly laid to rest Patrick Swayze or MTV’s DJ. AM. However, it was the ghost of Michael Jackson and his shrill cries of “you’re ignorant” and “tee hees” that made my eyes rain.

With a brilliant subplot tying together ‘mexican food to-go superking’s’ Chipotle and Billy Mays’  newest product “Chipotl-Away“, they took no prisoners. I cried with laughter because I can never believe how unbelievably outrageous Matt and Trey are willing to take things. The pop culture commentary is hit on the nose in ways that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will never be able to replicate. It’s gauche and in poor taste and so perfectly executed. Do yourself a favor and head over to southparkstudios.com and see what you’re missing.

J*DaVey

The new single from J*DaVey called ‘Mama’s Back’ is hot. They up for voting on MTV’s I want my Music

Show some love and vote for them now, so they can continue making some great music! More details on the band below. you can listen more on their myspace page or on their website also the single can be purchased in iTunes

With a diverse array of influences, eclectic twosome J*Davey — female vocalist Jack Davey and producer Brook D’Leau — deliberately evade the narrow categories of what urban music should sound like, not to mention that they defy normal conventions of pop music. Drawing equally from neo-soul, new wave, funk, and hip-hop, their melting pot of electronic soul and dance have made music-goers try to classify them somewhere between neo-soulstress Erykah Badu and new wave punks Talking Heads. D’Leau and Davey established the duo in the summer after their high-school graduation in 1999. Born and raised in L.A., D’Leau, whose taste for new wave and funk greatly characterizes the group’s music, learned to produce tinkering with his father’s studio equipment during high school. Davey moved to Los Angeles from her hometown of St. Louis, MO, when she was eight. She had her fair share of industry woes with a failed stint in a girl group, but when she met D’Leau, the two had a chemistry that they couldn’t ignore. For several years, the self-proclaimed “black Eurythmics” worked the live circuit around the country, steadily building their reputation and a unique following. They made some substantial strides on the recording side of things, scoring music for television shows CSI: New York and Entourage. However, their recording appearances began to accumulate in the mid-2000s with the most interesting being their cover of Frank Zappa’s “Dirty Love” on Ubiquity Records’ Rewind! 5 compilation in 2006. Early the following year, fresh off their stint performing with Prince, J*Davey signed a major-label deal with Warner Bros. ~ Cyril Cordor, All Music Guide

DELÍCIA DO DIA

Twilight cast member endorsements!

Dear Twilight Stars-

I’ve been thinking about you lately (shocking, I know) and I’ve thought about some ways you can parlay this popularity into cash money in your pockets! You’re seen daily with a variety of products and all without an endorsement deal! And it struck me, you guys need to be spokeswhores for your favorite products! Talk about making a little mad money on the side and all for doing what you normally do!

I’m sure you’re skeptical of attaching your name and likeness to any product so I’ve drafted up a couple proofs to show you the possibilities!

Now Wolves, you guys are a little less known that the main characters currently but together as a group you have more star power, so when I saw these pics…

Hot men in UGG-ly boots!

I knew you’d be the perfect spokesmen for UGG boots! Over the last few years the boots have gone from must have to must only wear at home but with you guys sporting them you can boost the demand for not only the women’s line but the mens! And you’re already doing it, all you have to do is walk around on set, flash a little chest, look whimsical and presto, instant spokeswhores!

I vant yo suck yo blood

I just saw these pictures of you in dracula/goth/vampire shiz for some MTV show and thought, wow you would be the perfect spokeswhore for America’s favorite psuedo parent scaring (except Moon Mom) store in the mall.  Goth kids everywhere would weep black smudged tears of relief to see someone who really “gets it.” Cure and Joy Division albums not included.

Follow the cut to see more Twilight spokesperson opportunities
You know how the last few weeks we’ve been talking about how Tweed makes Edward VERY serious? Well after this picture from the movie companion was released I knew the deal was sealed…

seriously...

Edward Cullen (yes, the fictional character) needs to be the official spokesperson for TWEED!!! His people demand it!

keeps all your "herbs" fresh... yea, that's it!

Everyone just thought you were being artsy when you did this shot for Interview magazine, Kristin but little did they know this shoot also could double as your Glad Cling Wrap shoot! You know for keeping all those perishable items fresh…

do you think this is Gil's "O" face?

Fender, if you’ve been wondering what demographic you’ve been missing it’s the illusive TWI MOM demo! These ladies coming to Twicons around the country just might be in the market for a new guitar and Gil’s the perfect man to be your spokeswhore! He’ll tote that thing all over creation as he travels from convention to convention picking up chicks playing his heart out!

So Twilight cast and brands these are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to potential endorsement deals! I hope you’ll think long and hard about which star and which brand would best suit each other. Good luck folks!

Your faithful marketer,
Themoonisdown

PS so what other cast member and brand would make a fab endorsement partnership?

Head over to LTR for some Rob goodness
Discuss it in the forums!
Don’t forget the Imma contest!

*obviously this is all a product of my over active imagination and these folks don’t endorse any of this shiz! Capish?*

I Want My MTV Back

bye bye bye

There have been millions of articles written about how MTV and VH1 have given up on playing music videos, which isn’t entirely true. If you wake up at the crack of dawn like I did this morning to go to the gym, they show a good chunk of videos for three hours and not all of them are new.  Before I had to leave, they even played Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)!! I was so excited I smiled as I ran up that 8.0 incline (and then promptly suffered a mild case of asthma).

everybody (backstreet’s back)

My enthusiasm for this video got me thinking though–not for the memories of the 90s, but rather for the memories of these videos.  I love everything about the videos cranked out by ‘NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears back in the day.  They were just so ridiculous and fun!  There was a formula to it.  There was a story, usually love was involved in some way with someone, and then they’d dance it out.

And boy, was there dancing.  I would watch these videos just for the choreographed parts and I would get chills each time.  As someone with little to no rhythm, it always boggles my mind how you can get 20 plus people to perform the same complicated moves at the same time to the same beat.  I loved it, and clearly, people still love it.  Some of these videos have over 10 million views on youtube and they aired on TV over 10 years ago.  They had to have done something right.

So, music producers/directors.  Please bring back music videos with choreographed dance numbers.  No, not gyrating hussies on shiny cars–those don’t count.  I want something like Britney in “Drive Me Crazy” or ‘NSYNC in “Bye Bye Bye”.

you drive me crazy

VeMoBunda
