Pat Benatar

Madonna might have been the most popular female artist of the mid 1980’s onward, but the early 1980’s belonged to Pat Benatar.

Pat Benatar is a Grammy Award winning Singer and one of the best-selling female artists in Music History.

Pat was born Patricia Andrzejewiski in Brooklyn, NY in 1953.

She became Pat Benatar when she married her first husband in the early 1970’s.

Her first Album, “In the Heat of the Night” was released in 1979.

Nineteen of her singles have charted in the Billboard Top-40.

She has won 4 Grammy Awards during her career.

She was nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Female Rock Performance Eight times during the 1980’s.

She has dabbled in acting and has appeared on shows such as “Charmed”, “Dharma and Greg”, and “The Young and the Restless”.

Her video for “You Better Run” was the 2nd video to ever be shown on MTV. It was seen right after “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles.

She is married to Neil Giraldo, a longtime member of her backing band. He has been her lead guitarist on every album that she has recorded.

She is still actively touring the Country performing her many classic hits.

I was in High School during the early 1980’s at the height of her popularity. At least at my school, at least every other girl in school wanted to look and dress like Pat Benatar. I went to a large school, so that was a lot of girls with short hair and spandex running around. Not that I was complaining.
